Letter from the Producer

This is an important time to have visited Mexico and to have visited one of its highly regarded universities, Tecnológico de Monterrey. Tec & Yale have had a long healthy relationship. Both universities host student exchanges, Tec administrators have participated in YaleGALE @ Yale, and education & research collaboration continues to be part of the two universities relationship.

This exchange has been unique due to the focus on sessions with current students, who shared the volunteering programs they have been developing for their communities. Their students were very excited to present and have discussion with our delegation of Yale Alumni Volunteer Leaders.

We visited three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and other places of interest documenting the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the country – and were also able so sample a variety of traditional Mexican cuisine which UNESCO has also designated as a cultural treasure. YaleGALE participants found these experiences marvelous and entrancing, enriching our understanding of the country and our university exchanges.

It was an interesting time to be in Mexico. Our hosts were gracious, as well as diplomatic, and we can’t thank them enough. But we are most appreciative of the dedication and spirit of adventure among our volunteers. The people we encounter abroad are always both astounded and inspired by their commitment.
