About YaleGALE:

The Yale Global Alumni Leadership Exchange (YaleGALE) is a strategic initiative of the Association of Yale Alumni (AYA) that seeks the advancement of higher education through alumni engagement and volunteer leadership. YaleGALE volunteers share best practices in alumni relations and foster rich cultural understanding with alumni from universities around the world. YaleGALE, through its engagement of leaders, shares with and strengthens volunteer driven organizations.

About Exchanges – the Newsletter of YaleGALE:

The Newsletter’s intent is to provide news, information and updates to past and future YaleGALE partner institutions, alumni volunteers, and alumni relations professionals. Exchange’s purpose is to promote continued engagement with YaleGALE and sharing of alumni best practices.

Exchanges was founded in 2012 by Ben Slotznick ’70, ’73 Dra. (Information posted on the previous YaleGALE website established by Kathy Edersheim ’87 was incorporated into Exchanges.) Since 2012,  Ben has acted as publisher, webmaster, frequent writer, sometimes photographer, and editor in chief.

In 2013, YaleGALE won the AYA Board of Governors Excellence Award for Most Creative Use of Technology and Social Networking Media, for the YaleGALE website which then included Exchanges, plus sections on Delegations and Resources.

A short history of YaleGALE – the first 4 years, 2008 through 2012:

Between the time YaleGALE began in 2008 until the establishment of this Newsletter in 2012, YaleGALE had sent 6 delegations abroad to Australia, Japan, Turkey, China, Israel, and the United Kingdom. That included over 350 delegates visiting universities in 6 countries.

In its first four years, YaleGALE had worked on campus or individually with over 25 educational institutions including: The Australian National University, University of Tokyo, Waseda University, University of Kyoto, Doshisha University, Ritsumeikan University, Istanbul University, Bahçeşehir University, Bilkent University, Yaşar University, Sabanci University, Koç University, Peking University, Tsing Hua University, Renmin University, Fudan University, Sun Yat Sen University, New Asia College (CUHK), University of Haifa, The Technion, Weizmann Institute, Ben Gurion University, Yemin Orde, Hebrew University, University of Edinburgh, University of Liverpool, Cambridge University, and University College London.

During that time, YaleGALE had also held multi-university Alumni Leadership Conferences in three different countries — Istanbul, Beijing and Tel Aviv — engaging over 50 universities in the sharing of best practices in alumni relations.
