March 5, 2016: Feb Club in Central PA keeps growing. This year we held 4 events in 4 cities. As an appropriate gesture of sharing our love of Yale, we started off with a pair of Valentine weekend events.
The first event was in State College. An afternoon Valentine treat with a combination art gallery opening followed by dinner at the Tavern. Yalies were joined by a contingent of visiting administrators from the Kwame Nkumreh University. Thanks to Charles Dumas ’79 JD for hosting. (Charles is the tall distinguished fellow in the back row.)
The second Valentine treat was early dinner Feb. 13, at the Federal Taphouse in downtown Harrisburg. Dinner was followed by a Whiffenpoof charity concert at the Pine Street Presbyterian Church, with champagne reception. Turns out the musical director of the Church is a Yalie. Event hosted by Club President, Mike Kline ’71. (Mike is the guy in the photo without gloves.)
The next event was in Lebanon, on Feb. 23, again hosted by Bob Hoffman ’68, ’73 M.Arch and Ben Slotznick ’70, ’73 Dra. A new venue and time (last half of Happy Hour at the Foundry Craft Grillery) proved successful. Great pizza for Central PA.
Our final Feb Club event was our first in the York-Lancaster area. We gathered at the Burning Bridge Tavern on Feb. 27, in Wrightsville, right on the York-Lancaster county line. The event was hosted by Trexler Proffitt ‘89 and Don Mann ’94. The Burning Bridge Tavern is a great honky tonk with a super Mac & Cheese special topped with pulled pork and BBQ sauce. Did I say that the Tavern is owned by Don and his family who are renovating the whole neighborhood, with some great venues for future events. (Trex is the fellow in the checked blue shirt, and Don is the tall guy in orange.)
